Women's sports gear

It's all about function, with fashion adding some fizz
Were you brought up by a mother with a near-pathological commitment to natural fibres? I was. When it came to day-to-day dressing, mother did know best, but it took several years, some blisters and the realisation that cotton holds water like a sponge to reprogramme my brainwashed mind into accepting that synthetic fibres are the only option for exercise gear, right down to butt-hugging sports knickers. This, however, does not include socks. Wool for socks rocks; its ability to wick away moisture and cushion the foot make it a saviour for long-distance running and hikes. Over short distances, nothing can part me from my beloved, anatomically snug, synthetic Asics running socks. Synthetic fibres can do extraordinary things now. Canterbury makes kit from ionising fabrics that adapt to body temperature and can actually energise the body's electrical circuits. In terms of performance, the difference is minute, but the added comfort and support go some way towards making physical activity far more pleasurable.

How do you dress appropriately aged 70?

If your age is 70 and sie 12-14 and have money to spend, but no idea where to start. All the dresses that you see are short and sleeveless. The solution: High street, take note. The fashion team has received a sackload of letters with this dilemma: where to find an elegant dress with long sleeves, one that reaches the knees or beyond, and comes in more imaginative colours than black and grey. It's a gap in the market that online retailers have begun to exploit. Gray & Osbourn ses that you see are short and sleeveless. La Dress have a selection of demure yet sassy dresses that provide colour and sophistication in equal measure. The best style for your dilemma is the trusty wrap-dress, as it often meets your “longer length, longer sleeves” requirement. Diane von Furstenberg pioneered the look (she's 61 and looks great in one) and still provides myriad examples today, if your budget permits (prices start from £297, but if you log on to matchesfashion.com, you may find a good deal in their sale section). Alternatively, Gray & Osbourn have a blue and white patterned version for £120 which, according to the website, is available in sizes 12 and 14 (go for the smaller size: it's better to be snug than sorry). Half the price of DvF, but by no means half the quality.

08 Trend: Gold Eyeshadow -Pure Gold

There is an attempt to ‘live younger’, I looked into fashion magazines for this season’s beauty trend in search for eye shadow ideas, as opposed to my usual eye shadow style (the few times I bother with eye shadow;) Read: brown. If you read every magazine out there for a few months, you would realise that they feature eye shadow of every colour so I ignored the obviously magazine-styled ones, like many shades of green, yellow and blue, and have decided to accept the classy trend: the gold eyeshadow which is very trendy and classy. There are two types. The first one is pure gold.As you can see, pure gold basically means just plain gold all colour over the eye lids. Obviously I don’t recommend you actually taking this look literally in real life.Because this was mostly apply on models and showbiz related people. While it looks very effortlessly applied on, I’m sure we wouldn’t be able to replicate it quite as well in real life. The way I’m planning on trying out this look is to first adjust by dabbing a tiny bit of the gold just at the inner corners of the eyes, so it will look as it does in the image above. Just a tiny dab to add a little something to the otherwise plain (but equally elegant) look. After trying it out a few times, I’ll move on to try the all-gold look As Goldmine colour applied the colour all over eyelids and honestly,it looked more like sparkly yellow than the pure gold and its look is very good and make your look younger and also very trendy.

Mess For Success

SLOPPY SUMMER DRESSING
SUMMER is steaming up offices all over the world - and we're not talking temperatures, we are talking about official dressing style.Lately, exposed cleavage, pastel bra straps, the odd half-moon and plenty of toes have been popping up for air all over town. Dressing professionally in 85-degree-plus weather is never easy, and with heat and humidity a daily battle now for weeks on end, so much of the city's office populace has thrown in the towel - as well as the jacket, the cardigan, the pump and, well, any office-appropriate apparel you can name.Since reinterpreting dress code is a major no-no in many corporate offices, it's the business-casual class that is committing the most serious faux pas this season. Here is our pet peeve don'ts for summer office dressing - culled from the city streets in and around Midtown.

Fall fashion for teens, done their way

This fall's looks are all about you. Your style, that is. As the new school year approaches, it's time for the annual American ritual of back-to-school shopping. To help, we've collected ideas from a handful of teenage fashionistas, who've submitted their own photographs and style suggestions. In addition, we talked to stylist Crystal Fambrini, who works with South Towne Center. They are into their personal style more than ever before and trying to get the deals at the store before everyone else does." Plaid fabrics, as well as coloful big bags and cardigans, are trends inspired by TV's "Gossip Girl." Graphic tees are still around and becoming more popular for girls and boys, according to Fambrini. Also popular: tight, bright-colored pants and vests, as well as high-waisted shorts, shirts and pants, thanks to Hollywood celebrities who have adopted the look. Fall fashion colors include neons and royal shades of purple and blue, while fashionable accessories include brightly colored Ray-Ban sunglasses and multiple layers of necklaces and bracelets.Personalized shoes, such as Chuck Taylor Converse and Nike tennies, are making a comeback, while the summer's gladiator sandals will remain popular this fall. For guys, Fambrini highlighted trends such as fitted jeans and light-color washes, outfitted with cowboy plaid shirts or graphic T-shirts that suit both preppy and rocker looks. Oversized Kanye West glasses will remain popular accessories, while skater shoes, such as Vans and Converse, continue to be fashion staples.
